The Automobile Club of Portugal (ACP) announced on 29 September that Rally Portugal will not feature on the 2027 World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar. Dates of 13–16 May 2027 had already been reserved for the event, but it lost its place after the promoter revised the schedule.
According to the organisers, the WRC promoter changed its plans on the final day of preparations for next season’s calendar, aiming for a more geographically diverse spread of rounds across more continents. Portugal was one of the events affected.

This differs from the previously announced arrangement for consecutive editions. The organisers had confirmed on 22 May 2025 that their agreement with the WRC promoter covered 2026, 2027 and 2028. The 2026 event took place on 7–10 May, but the absence in 2027 interrupts the original three-year sequence.
ACP has begun discussions with the WRC promoter to assess the possibility of Rally Portugal returning to the WRC calendar in 2028; that return remains under negotiation. For fans planning to attend the Portuguese WRC round in 2027, the previously scheduled 13–16 May can no longer be treated as its event dates.
