Fermin Aldeguer rides during Friday practice at the 2026 MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix

Fermin Aldeguer missed direct entry to Q2 by 0.038 seconds on his return in Qatar. In Gresini’s November 6 Friday report, the Spaniard said 11th place meant facing Q1, but the feeling from his hand and bike offered encouragement.

Aldeguer described mixed disappointment and optimism. Missing the direct place was frustrating, but he felt the team had worked in its usual way and that he was finding his form again. He specifically highlighted the feeling in his hand and the need for as much track time as possible.

Q1 therefore has two implications. It is an additional stage he must negotiate to reach Q2, while every run after his return also helps him rebuild his assessment of the bike and his physical feedback.

Team-mate Iker Lecuona finished 16th. He said he had not raced at the circuit for several years but found useful speed in the morning and improved in the afternoon. Riding at night felt unfamiliar, and several mistakes limited his performance. He believed reducing them could bring him closer to the top ten.
