Circuit layout and identifying the racing line

The outline of the permanent circuit used since 1987, with 14 corners. It is not the earlier road course that passed through villages and towns.

What to watch
- At the start of the lap, watch whether the riders choose different entry arcs. Brno’s width allows several approaches, but they still need to preserve a suitable position for the next corner on exit.
- Combine onboard and distant views through the undulating middle section. Gradients in the image can compress the sense of distance, so a sudden apparent closing gap does not necessarily come entirely from different braking times.
- The final uphill section and last few corners are linked. If a rider has no advantage at the apex but gradually recovers ground on exit, focus on where acceleration begins and the line through the whole section, rather than just comparing one speed trap.

Checked on 2026-09-23. Lap counts, Sprint distance and Grand Prix distance are event information for this season, not permanent circuit attributes. If the organisers alter a race because of weather, track conditions or a red flag, the event announcements and final results take precedence.
Common points of confusion
1965 is the year the Brno area first hosted a motorcycle Grand Prix world championship event; the current permanent circuit has been used since 1987. Old road-course maps do not represent today’s MotoGP layout.
When comparing lap times, distinguish lap records set in sessions such as qualifying from the fastest race lap: they are not interchangeable. Times from different layouts, wet and dry conditions, or different classes cannot be compared directly either.
