Kateřina Siniaková plays a shot at the 2026 Osaka tennis tournament

Czech player Kateřina Siniaková beat American Ashlyn Krueger 6–1, 6–0 in the women's singles final at the Japan Open in Osaka on October 25. The match lasted 64 minutes and delivered Siniaková's sixth career WTA singles title.

Ten straight games from 2–1 finish the match

WTA's post-match report noted that Siniaková did not lose another game after taking a 2–1 lead in the opening set. She first won four straight games to take it 6–1, then swept the six games of the second set, completing the final with a ten-game winning streak. She won twelve of the match's thirteen games, with Krueger taking just one.

A set lost in round one, then four straight two-set wins

The official draw showed that unseeded Siniaková faced Peyton Stearns in the first round, with the opening two sets ending 6–4 and 0–6 before her opponent retired at 4–0 in the decider. That was the only set Siniaková lost during the week. The first round ended in her opponent's retirement; all four subsequent rounds were completed normally.

She dropped no further sets in those four rounds. She beat Linette 6–4, 6–1 in round two, Stoiana 6–1, 6–2 in the quarter-finals and Boulter 6–1, 6–4 in the semi-finals, before losing just one game in the final. That route shows that the quick final continued her pattern of straight-sets wins in the latter part of the week.

Krueger's semi-final, by contrast, went to three sets. She beat top seed Ann Li 6–4, 6–7(4), 6–3 to reach the final. Krueger had also won her quarter-final 6–1, 6–3, but needed three sets in the semi-final. Siniaková followed two consecutive straight-sets wins with another to finish the week.
