Red Bull KTM Tech3 has announced that Maverick Viñales plans to return at the MotoGP Japanese Grand Prix on 2–4 October, restoring its regular line-up alongside Enea Bastianini. MotoGP’s official Japanese-language report adds that he will undergo a medical examination at the Motegi circuit medical centre on 1 October and take part in Friday practice if cleared to ride.

Viñales has continued his recovery from a shoulder injury since July’s German round, missing the following four events. Pol Espargaró replaced him at the British, Aragon, San Marino and Austrian rounds. Following rehabilitation and further medical and fitness assessments, Viñales is ready to travel to Japan to complete the arrangements for his return.

Viñales said he was not yet back to one hundred per cent, but his recovery was heading in the right direction and he felt able to take the next step. At Motegi, he hopes to build up gradually, understand how his body responds to riding and regain his feel for the bike.

Team manager Nicolas Goyon said the recovery had taken longer than initially expected, with the team prioritising support for his rehabilitation and avoiding a rushed return. Re-establishing rhythm after a long absence takes time, and the team will help Viñales rebuild gradually throughout the weekend.
