Debise rides the No. 53 Zhang Xue Racing bike among rivals including No. 61 in 2026 Jerez WorldSSP Race 2

The World Supersport Championship (WorldSSP) ended its season with Race 2 at Jerez, Spain, on October 18. Zhang Xue Racing's Valentin Debise finished fifth, ending the year second in the riders' championship on 308 points. Teammate Federico Caricasulo was fourteenth.

Jorge Navarro's lap-twelve crash at Turn 8 brought a red flag. More than two-thirds of the scheduled distance had been completed, so the race ended early with a published twelve-lap classification. Jérémy Alcoba led Dominique Aegerter in a Kawasaki one-two, with Matteo Ferrari third.

Four laps led before Debise finishes fifth

Debise started eighth and briefly led the close front group. Lap-leader records put him first on lap three and laps five through seven, four laps in total. He could not retain that lead until the red flag, finishing 1.987 seconds behind the winner.

No. 53 was also instructed to drop one position for irresponsible riding late in the race. Race records announced the penalty at 14:19:46 local time and confirmed completion at 14:20:31. This was an in-race position-drop penalty, so his position then cannot be treated as the final classification.

Caricasulo started 23rd and finished fourteenth. The Zhang Xue bikes gained three and nine places from grid to classification: net changes, not counts of individual overtakes.

The finale changes third place in the championship

Arenas and Tom Booth-Amos collided and retired early. The event report said Arenas was diagnosed with multiple contusions after a medical-center examination, while red-flag casualty Navarro had a mild concussion. Both retirements remain in the full results.

Arenas won the championship on 389, with Debise second on 308. Alcoba's finale win brought 274, ahead of Can Öncü's 263 for third overall. Öncü was fourth in the race, 0.216 seconds from the final podium place.

For Zhang Xue Racing, the two outcomes differ: Debise led four laps but finished fifth, while 308 points and runner-up describe the whole season. The season is complete; one result cannot independently quantify year-long bike performance.

The table includes 26 classified riders and four not classified. Gaps are measured from the winner in seconds. “1 Sector” retains the timing sheet's sector-gap measure and is not converted to a lap down. RET means retired; missing gaps use a dash. The sheet retains conditions concerning protests and technical checks.
