Marc Márquez sprays champagne on the San Marino Grand Prix podium to celebrate his 78th premier-class Grand Prix win

The 27-lap Grand Prix at Round 14 of the 2026 MotoGP season, San Marino, concluded at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on September 13. Marc Márquez won in 41 minutes 13.013 seconds, with Álex Márquez second, 0.657 seconds behind, and Pedro Acosta third. Marc Márquez drew level with Jorge Martín on 274 points and moved into the championship lead through his greater number of Grand Prix wins.

Bezzecchi retires on the opening lap before Martín takes the lead

Polesitter Marco Bezzecchi protected the inside at the start and led through Turn 1, but crashed out at Turn 13 on the opening lap. Marc Márquez inherited first with Martín close behind, while Acosta and Álex Márquez also fought for positions near the front.

On lap 7, Martín passed Marc Márquez on the inside at Turn 4 to take the lead. Márquez did not immediately counterattack and briefly came under pressure from his brother, before repeatedly improving his own lap times to close on Martín again.
