Raúl Fernández celebrates his first MotoGP pole position after qualifying for the Indonesian Grand Prix on October 10, 2026.

Qualifying for round 17 of the 2026 MotoGP season, the Indonesian Grand Prix, concluded at Mandalika on October 10, Beijing time (UTC+8). Trackhouse rider Raúl Fernández took the first pole position of his MotoGP career with a 1:28.852. Marco Bezzecchi was second, 0.109 seconds behind, putting two Aprilia bikes at the top of the timesheets. Fabio Di Giannantonio finished third.

Fernández moves ahead on his second run as yellow flags affect Bezzecchi

Early in the second qualifying session, Q2, Marc Márquez led with a 1:29.265 before Bezzecchi set a 1:28.961. Fernández’s best time on his first run was a 1:29.172. On his second run, he improved to a 1:28.852 on his sixth lap of the session, finding 0.320 seconds to move to the top.

Bezzecchi’s subsequent attempt to challenge for pole was affected by yellow flags after Fermín Aldeguer crashed at Turn 16. Bezzecchi abandoned that lap and was unable to improve on another attempt afterwards. Fernández held on to first place but did not beat the circuit record of 1:28.725 he had set on Friday. His pole lap was 0.127 seconds slower than that record.

The two places available for advancement from the first qualifying session, Q1, went to Aldeguer and Ai Ogura, who set times of 1:29.639 and 1:29.729 respectively. Ogura crashed at Turn 12 late in the session but retained second place. Johann Zarco, Jack Miller, Enea Bastianini and Diogo Moreira also crashed during Q1.

Marc Márquez prepares to head out from the Ducati garage on Friday at the MotoGP Indonesian Grand Prix, October 9, 2026.

The top two in the championship share the second row as Rins misses Q2 by 0.105 seconds

Marc Márquez ultimately finished fourth on 1:29.118, just 0.070 seconds behind third-placed Di Giannantonio. Jorge Martín was a further 0.034 seconds back in fifth. Neither of the top two riders in the championship standings reached the front row. After advancing from Q1, Aldeguer took sixth, ahead of Ogura in seventh, Álex Márquez in eighth and Pedro Acosta in ninth.

Francesco Bagnaia, Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo finished tenth, eleventh and twelfth respectively. Álex Rins was only 0.105 seconds slower than Ogura in Q1, but that left him outside the top two required to advance, so he qualified 13th.

The Indonesian Sprint is scheduled to start at 15:00 Beijing time (UTC+8) on October 10. This qualifying order will form the grid for both the Sprint and Sunday’s Grand Prix, with any grid penalties applied to the relevant race. Fernández and Bezzecchi secured a front-row advantage for Aprilia, while Di Giannantonio was the highest-placed Ducati rider in qualifying.
